In 2021, I was honored with the AmCham Frontline Journalism Award, presented by the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) in recognition of my exemplary reporting during the COVID-19 pandemic. This prestigious national award acknowledged journalists who demonstrated professional excellence, bravery, and a deep sense of social responsibility while reporting from the frontlines during one of the most challenging global crises of our time.
Throughout the pandemic, I produced and reported a series of television news features and investigative stories for ATN Bangla, documenting the far reaching impacts of COVID-19 on public health, the national economy, and social life in Bangladesh. My reporting captured the courage and struggles of front line workers, including doctors, nurses, and emergency responders, while also highlighting the plight of small entrepreneurs, migrant laborers, and underprivileged communities facing economic and emotional hardship.
These reports emphasized resilience, human dignity, and social solidarity in the face of unprecedented adversity. By combining data driven analysis with compassionate storytelling, my report coverage contributed to raising awareness, countering misinformation and encouraging responsible public behavior during the national health emergency.
The award ceremony, organized by AmCham Bangladesh, was held virtually in compliance with pandemic restrictions. The event was graced by distinguished guests from the diplomatic corps, international development organizations, and the business community. The Chief Guest, Honorable Foreign Minister of Bangladesh, Dr. A.K. Abdul Momen (MP), joined the ceremony online and presented the award through virtual media, commending the vital role of journalists in ensuring truthful, timely and balanced communication during the pandemic crisis.
Representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka, AmCham Executive Committee members, and leading business figures also participated in the program, recognizing the essential partnership
between responsible media and the private sector in sustaining public trust during a global emergency.
Receiving the AmCham Frontline Journalism Award 2021 was a proud milestone in my professional career. It reaffirmed my belief in the power of ethical journalism to inform, educate, and unite people in moments of uncertainty. The honor underscored my commitment to uphold truth, compassion, and journalistic integrity, even under the most challenging circumstances.
This recognition continues to inspire my mission to practice constructive and socially responsive journalism using the media as a platform for public service, community awareness and national
resilience.
