Electronic Media Category, World Vision Bangladesh Media Competition 2023

The competition was organized by World Vision Bangladesh with the aim of directing policymakers’ attention towards the steps taken to improve the living standards of low income urban populations, especially women and children, through media reporting. Participants prepared reports focusing on problems faced by city-dwellers and possible ways out. 2 September 2023, Dhaka, Bangladesh Award ceremony held at Lakeshore Hotel Gulshan. The cash prize, crest and certificate were handed over by M. A. Mannan, Planning Minister of Bangladesh during the award ceremony. Judging & Guests. The event featured key specialguests and a judging panel. Special guests included Emeritus Professor and former Bangladesh Bank governor Atiur Rahman, Additional Secretary and Director of the Hazardous Child Labour Elimination Project Md Monowar Hossain, Director General of the Press Information Bureau Zafar Wazed, and Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Labour & Employment Mohammad Abdul Kader.

The judging panel comprised media industry figures such as Chief Executive of Global Television Syed Istiaq Reza; Chief Executive of Nexus Television Sanaullah Lablu, Communications expert Shahana Huda Ranjana. In the electronic media category your winning entry stood ahead of first and second runners-up: the first runner-up was from Channel i staff correspondent Zakia Akther and second runner-up was from Channel 24 senior correspondent Zinia Kabir Shuchona.

The ceremony opened with a dance performance by children of World Vision and a short drama by its Children & Youth Forum, emphasizing the organization’s engagement with youth.
