32nd International Emmy Award 2004

I was a core member of the creative youth team behind ATN Bangla’s documentary “Amrao Pari” (We Too Can), which won the 32nd International Emmy Award in 2004 under the International Children’s Day of Broadcasting (ICDB) category. In this internationally acclaimed project my contributed extensively to script planning, shooting coordination, budgeting,
research, shot division and editing. The documentary, produced and executed by a group of young talents, told the inspiring story of a Bangladeshi child whose courage averted a major
train accident. The prestigious Emmy recognition brought Bangladesh’s television media global honor and my contribution remains a proud milestone in my professional journey in creative and
development communication. The documentary highlighted the bravery of a young Bangladeshi child whose quick thinking and courageous actions helped avert a potentially catastrophic train
accident. As a core member of the creative youth team, I am played an instrumental role in multiple facets of the project, contributing extensively to both its creative vision and execution.
My involvement spanned several critical areas.

1. Script Planning and Development: My contribution in script planning involved breaking down the core message and turning it into a compelling, coherent narrative suitable for the target audience. This required balancing factual accuracy with the emotional resonance of the story.

2. Shooting Coordination: I was directly involved in the coordination of the shooting process, working with the director and crew to ensure that the visuals aligned with the story. This included location scouting, scheduling shoots, and making sure that the team had all the necessary resources to execute the filming efficiently. On-the-ground Coordination, Ensuring that everything from lighting to camera setups was executed smoothly, and troubleshooting any unexpected challenges during production was a part of your responsibility.

3. Budgeting and Resource Management: I played a key role in budgeting, helping to ensure that funds were allocated effectively for different production phases whether for research, filming and post production. This was crucial in keeping the project within its financial parameters while ensuring high production quality. Given the constraints often associated with media projects, my ability to optimize resources ensured the project maintained its vision without exceeding financial limits.

4. Research and Content Development: I was critical in ensuring the documentary stayed true to the factual details while maintaining a compelling narrative. The research involved both the real-life story behind the young child’s actions and the broader context of train safety and community empowerment.

5. Shot Division and Editing: I had a hand in dividing the shots and visual storytelling, ensuring that the transitions between scenes built emotional tension and empathy. Editing was a key phase where you helped refine the narrative flow, ensuring that the pacing and tone of the documentary matched the intended message. The final edit also involved careful selection of music, sound effects, and visuals that reinforced the emotional depth of the story.

Amrao Pari and Its Emmy Recognition: Winning the International Emmy Award brought global recognition to Bangladesh’s television media, highlighting the potential of local talent and underscoring the power of youth-led initiatives in broadcasting. Amrao Pari didn’t just win an award; it marked a cultural milestone that showed the world the innovative, impactful work being done in the Bangladeshi media landscape. The documentary was celebrated for not only its strong narrative but for its ability to raise awareness about child empowerment, heroism and safety issues.

Personal Reflection: Being a part of this project remains a proud milestone in my professional journey, marking my contributions to both creative and development communication. I was part of a team that made a meaningful impact on both the Bangladeshi media industry and the global media scene. The experience not only helped sharpen my skills in scriptwriting, research and production coordination. It also instilled in mine a deeper understanding of the power of media to drive change and inspire action.

The project proved to be not just a professional achievement, but also a deeply personal and emotional journey working alongside talented peers, overcoming challenges and contributing to
a story that celebrated courage, hope and resilience.
